Praying with Purpose

Praying with purpose is simply talking with (and listening to) God. It’s one way we communicate with Him. God speaks to us primarily through His Word (the Bible). But He also speaks to us through the Holy Spirit as we pray. Prayer is more than a conversation! It’s one way that we get to participate in God’s work in our world.

While reading our Bibles, the Holy Spirit may reveal something in our lives that requires change. We pause to talk to God about it, yielding our will to His.

We might begin praying for a family member who is studying for final exams. But God knows they need strength to withstand temptation. So the Holy Spirit prompts us to pray in that realm.

Maybe a sister is struggling at her place of employment. You pray for her to have peace amid the turmoil there. Then the Holy Spirit prompts you to pray that she would be a light in the darkness.

This is praying with purpose, and these posts will encourage you to expand your prayer life and its effectiveness.

As moms, we get to be part of God’s work in our children’s lives through our prayers. But it's easy to get distracted. Focus will help us pray effectively.
