This Time is in His Hands
My mother often says,
Life can be…so lifey!
What she means by that is … Life happens. And as a result, sometimes our plans get derailed.
Well, that’s me right now. I’m smack-dab in the middle of Life. It’s frustrating, but I know that this time is in the Lord’s hands.
A few weeks ago I had time to read. And read I did! I enjoyed two or three fiction books, but they left my mind muddled. I had a hard time detaching from the novels to think about other things.
It’s the end of the school year and our schedules are busier than ever. I keep thinking that as school winds down, so should all of our commitments. To some extent that is true. But new commitments crop up.
And last week, my dear MIL fell and broke her hip. She had surgery and is still in the hospital. Amazingly, she is recovering beautifully. Our families are taking shifts looking after her. It’s a beautiful time to serve a beautiful lady. She is 93 and loves the Lord with all of her heart. But it is exhausting in every way. Mostly for my SIL who is her full-time caregiver.
That said, it has been difficult to slow down and write. My heart yearns for this, though. In fact, a few days ago I thought, Certainly I can do a Five Minute Friday post. After reading the prompt, my mind was running with thoughts. I started to write, but then Life took over. The unfinished post is still in my drafts folder.
And it’s OK. This is Life.
I wanted to let you, dear Readers, know that I haven’t fallen off the planet! Although I’m not writing as often as I’d like to, the Lord reminds me …
My times are in your hands …” (Psalm 31:15 NIV)
His plans and His purposes prevail, Proverbs 19:21.
I’m resting in that truth.
I don’t know what is going on during this time in your life. But if you are reeling from an unexpected curve, I pray you find comfort in knowing that your Lord is over your circumstances, and that your times, are indeed, in His hands.
Praying for your MIL and SIL and your whole family, Dianne. God’s steps often take us away from the things we have planned–like writing–but it’s in those steps He most often gives us the very things to write about. Praying He will fill you with new understanding and wisdom to share with all of us…in His time. Blessings, sweet friend.
Thanks for your encouragement, Sabra. I read them last week and they were incredibly encouraging. Things are settling down for her. She is in rehab now. 🙂 I appreciate your prayers for all of us!
