Music is mood magic! It can change the way we feel within a few seconds. Turning on our iPods and playing the right tune can change everything. If we’re feeling a little down, a happy song can help us set our minds in a new direction. If we need some extra motivation, a fast song can do the trick—especially if the words are right. I need that these days when I’m at the gym.
I’m in a season of building and rebuilding good habits. One, obviously, is being more consistent with my Blog. Eating right and exercising regularly are two more good habits I am rebuilding. I used to be very focused and disciplined with both. But a few years ago, I let everything go. And now I’m paying the price.
Having a playlist with the right music keeps me moving. These songs are particularly encouraging to me right now. They are fast; they are happy; and they keep my focus on why I am building new habits.
“Live With Abandon”1 by The Newsboys, reminds me that when I’m living to please myself, I miss God’s best for me. When I give every part of my life to Christ, then every breath can count for eternity—with NO REGRETS.
I fell in love with the song “The King Is Coming,”2 also by The Newsboys, when I saw the movie “God’s Not Dead.” Christ is returning as King with victory over the evil in our world.
Chris Tomlin’s song, “God’s Great Dance Floor”3 is a celebration of God’s faithfulness and forgiveness.
I LOVE MUSIC. But I don’t always want to go to the gym. When I have the right playlist, however, the gym and my iPhone create an escape from the responsibilities at home. I go, and I stay focused on my goal–which is to honor the Lord in every aspect of my life–including my physical body.
